If you’re feeling unsure about exercise after having a baby, you’re not alone.
Maybe you’ve been told to “just get back into it.”
Maybe you’ve tried a workout and ended up feeling heavier, more exhausted, or wondering if you’re actually helping your body at all.
Maybe you’re worried about your tummy, your strength, your fitness, your pelvic floor… or all of the above.
Trust me—I get it.
Despite being a fitness trainer since I was 17 years old, I found myself asking those exact same questions during my first pregnancy.
After teaching fitness classes, I’d often feel a little voice whispering:
“Should this feel like this?”
“Is my body trying to tell me something?”
So I did what most mums do.
I asked fitness professionals.
I asked doctors.
I asked Google.
And the answers were always the same.
“You’re fit.”
“Your body will adjust.”
“Just do a little less.”
“Take an extra rest day.”
But deep down, I knew something wasn’t right.
Exercise should leave you feeling stronger, more confident and energised—not worried about your body every time you move.That’s when I became obsessed with learning everything I could about women’s fitness, pregnancy, postpartum recovery and pelvic floor health.
In 2007, when my son was just six months old, I travelled to Melbourne to train with some of Australia’s leading Women’s Health Physiotherapists. And honestly?
It completely changed the way I viewed fitness.
I discovered something that shocked me.
After years in the fitness industry, I’d learned about almost every muscle in the body…
Except the one that matters most for so many women.
The pelvic floor.
And once I understood how the body truly works during pregnancy, postpartum and beyond, everything changed.
No more guesswork.
No more “just push through.”
No more generic fitness advice designed for men and simply repackaged for women.
Instead, I created what is now known as the BFAB Method™—a whole-body approach that helps women build strength, fitness and confidence while supporting their core and pelvic floor.
